Hypnotherapy, the
practice of using hypnosis for pain management or mental, emotional, and
physical therapy, is often misunderstood. Some people fear it or view it
with skepticism at best.
Many people do not
realize that hypnosis has been developed over hundreds of years, that its
effectiveness is supported by numerous scientific studies, and that it has
been used during the past century by many reputable, conventional medical
professionals, including the Mayo brothers!
Sometimes it's
easier to explain hypnosis by describing what it is not!
It is not sleep. It is not unconsciousness. It is not giving up
control.
When you are in a
hypnotherapy session, I guide you into a deep state of relaxation, a mental
space in which we can work together on your chosen issues, but it is up to
you how far into hypnosis you will go. I can only guide you; I cannot force
you into hypnosis.
You will remain
aware or yourself and of what I am saying while you are under hypnosis.
However, you will be so relaxed that you will probably lose the desire to
move or pay attention to anything else but what we are working on during our
session.
While you are under
hypnosis, you can accept or reject anything that I say. If I say something
that is in line with your beliefs or desires, then you may accept it, but if
I tell you something that seems unacceptable to you, you can reject it.
Hypnosis cannot be used to brainwash you, since you are ultimately the
master of your own mind.
In layman’s terms,
hypnosis is the clinical use of the power of positive thinking to correct
and heal mental, physical, and emotional issues, according to your personal
expectations.
Scientifically
speaking, hypnosis is a method of a mental programming. To be more
precise, it is an altered state of highly focused consciousness in which the
conscious or aware mind is bypassed and the subconscious mind (below
conscious perception) is directly accessed.
The subconscious
mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind. It is the seat of
all of your stored experiences and knowledge, and through it you can access
memories, emotions, and events suppressed or repressed by your conscious
mind. In fact, your subconscious mind can reveal facts and information
that you might think you’ve lost, revealing the root cause of feelings,
behaviours, and attitudes. These, in turn, can be strengthened, modified or
eliminated according to your needs.
I have noticed that
I have tremendous success helping people who are dealing with job loss and
career changes, nail biters who want to drop the habit, and women trying to
overcome menstrual problems, which might include menstruation-related pain.
I also help people
improve their low self-esteem, overcome eating disorders, or I aid them in
addiction treatment (such as alcoholism).
These are just a
few of the many issues that you can successfully work through in hypnosis.
Since the connection between the mind and body is extremely powerful (and
vital), any number of problems, physical or mental, can be addressed with
hypnotherapy.
Hypnosis has even
been known to help people overcome problems such as infertility or insomnia,
things that seem more like physical problems than mental ones; however,
since the brain is the center for creating signals of health or pain,
hypnosis is highly relevant when treating physical issues.
Hypnosis is most
helpful when you have difficulty changing a habit or gaining access to the
part of your memory you normally don’t have access to. Hypnosis can
help you stop smoking, lose weight, overcome fears, or reverse mental and
physical problems. It can help you see how negative habits have been
drawn into your life, and how you can change them.
If you have a habit
or a phobia which you’d like to be free of, hypnotherapy is a good,
scientifically backed way of treating it.
You can also use it
to deal with problems relating to interpersonal relationships, anger,
stress, anxiety, nail biting, and much more. You can learn faster,
advance your career, improve athletic performance, manage pain, or succeed
in sales, all using the powerful tool of hypnosis-induced self-persuasion.
The list of possibilities for hypnotherapy truly is endless.
I can also teach
you the secrets of self-hypnosis so that you not only progress on your own,
but you may continue to create and experience dramatic results, too.

The Impact of
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is helpful
when you are having difficulty changing negative behaviours or accessing
specific areas of your conscious and or subconscious.
Gaining that access
can generate tremendous impact on one's life. It's important to understand
that using hypnosis can help you stop smoking, lose weight, or handle
whatever fears and phobias are troubling you, because under hypnosis you
convince yourself that you can achieve the results that you desire.
Additionally, when
hypnosis is used for memory regression, it is life-changing to explore how
and why past relationships or lifetimes relate to your present day
acquaintances - both positively and negatively.
The Effectiveness
of Hypnosis
Hypnosis is
particularly helpful when you’re having difficulty changing negative
attitudes or behaviours, or can’t access your conscious or subconscious
mind.
Gaining access to
different levels of your consciousness can impact your life tremendously.
The American
Medical Association (AMA) has recognized hypnosis as a beneficial treatment
for well over four decades. In a review of literature published in
Psychotherapy magazine (Volume 7, Number 1, Alfred A Barrios, PhD) various
techniques were profiled.
Success rates with
lasting results:
* hypnosis—93% after six sessions
* behaviour therapy—72% after 22 sessions
* psychotherapy—38% after 699 sessions!
